- 1 lb. ground pork (optional: you may also make this recipe with 2 pounds of ground beef only)

- 14 oz. kidney beans (1 can, washed and rinsed)
- 28 oz. tomato sauce (1 large can, or diced tomatoes, for a chunkier chili)
- 1 can beer (optional, highly recommended)

- cheddar cheese (or shredded monterey, for garnish, optional)
- cilantro (chopped, for garnish, optional)
