- 1 buttermilk (16 fluid oz. bottle of, low fat is okay, if you prefer)
- 2 tsp. season salt (Morton Nature’s, Lawry’s would also work)
- 1/2 tsp. ground cayenne pepper (optional, but very tasty)
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp. season salt (Morton Nature’s, or Lawry’s)
- 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp. ground cayenne pepper (it’s optional again, but so tasty!)

The best way to get that crunchy bubbled fried crust - make it several times and is wonderfule everytime!

It was okay. The chicken was nice and juicy, however it has hardly enough seasoning and comes out almost flavorless.

Great recipe! Loved the helpful tip about adding a bit of buttermilk to the flour mixture to get larger clumps for extra crispiness.

I had to use normal milk and didn’t use the cayenne pepper,but it was SO delicious!!!

I didn't have buttermilk so I improvised with milk, it was still delicious! I purchased buttermilk to try again since it was such a hit

the chicken was very moist, but the breading slid right off the chicken. Any pointers on how to keep the breading from sliding off the chicken ?

My family ate this up! I have tried many many fried chicken recipes, but this is where I will stop. Hands down best ever. I did use tenders rather than breast strips and used a deep fryer instead of a pan fry.

I used an air fryer to cook these instead. They still came out crispy and were pretty good. I'd add a lot more seasoning next time though. At least triple the amount from the recipe since there is so much flower.

These turned out great. The did not need a dipping sauce, which I always use. we will be making these again.
