These turned out great!
I used dates, dried apricots, and dried cranberries instead of only dates (which I sliced very thin before adding to the orange juice) and I doubled the orange juice but kept the lid off when simmering. I replaced the oil and butter with coconut oil.
Next time I might add some more spices for a bit more flavor.
