- 1 Tbsp. flax meal (they turn out fine without this, but are more tender when the flax is added)
- 1/3 cup coconut oil (solid)

- 2/3 cup cold water (plus a couple more tablespoons if necessary)

great recipe! very flaky and tender biscuits! the only issue was it wasn't clear when the flax should be added. i put it in with the dry ingredients, and that worked well.
just as a note, when the recipe says cold water, it means cold cold not room temp. i always put ice in with mine and then add it to the dry ingredients a little at a time until the dough comes together (not any specific amount.)
substitutions were made because i didn't have all of the ingredients on hand. i used earth balance instead of coconut oil, so i cut the salt by about half. i also substituted maple syrup for agave without any problems or maple flavor coming through.
cook temp and time were spot on here.
the biscuits came out amazing. my 3-year-old actually said, "this is unbelievable!" lol. really, if you're having a biscuit craving, make these! so good!
