- 1/3 cup tuvar dal (or Arhar Dal 1/3 cup is 60 ml measurement)
- tomato (1 nos., roughly chopped into pieces)
- 1 tamarind (nos Gooseberry size)
- 1 1/4 Tbsp. flour (Vepampoo or Dried Neem, Check notes, 1 tbsp is 15 ml measurement)
- 1 Tbsp. ghee (or clarified butter)
- 1 tsp. sesame oil
- 1/4 tsp. mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp. jeera (or Cumin seeds)
- 1 Tbsp. rasam powder
- 1/4 tsp. turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp. asafoetida (or hing)
- 1 Tbsp. jaggery
- coriander leaves (finely chopped, as required)
- 3 sprigs curry leaves (as required)
- salt (to taste)
- water (1/2 cup to soak the tamarind + Extra as required to adjust rasam consistency, pressure cook dal etc)
