Description
Venezuelan Arepas are a hearty and decadent bread-like wrap that is made with corn meal. It is similar to a thick tortilla. This recipe makes 12 80-calorie servings in 30 minutes. These flavorful arepas are perfect when filled with your favorite meats and vegetables. They are smaller than a soft taco shell, but are filled in a similar way. - 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 pkg. flour (white corn meal)
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 liter water

Directions
- Heat the oil on a large skillet (the oil should be 1 centimeter deep in the pan)
- Mix the flour and salt in a bowl. Add the liter of water slowly, kneading together until the liquid is absorbed. Add the rest of the water and mix very well, in a span of approximately 5 minutes.
- Form the dough into balls about half the size of an orange, and flatten in your hands until it becomes a disc shape approximately 1 centimeter thick.
