- 3 Tbsp. tomato paste
- 15 oz. chickpeas (/garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained)
- 15 oz. black beans (rinsed and drained)
- 2 Tbsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tsp. ground cumin
- 1 bay leaf
- 3 squares semi sweet chocolate (approximately 1 ounce, or 1 tablespoon sugar)
- 1 jalapeno pepper (seeded and chopped)
- 1 avocado (chopped)
- 1/2 cup cilantro (finely minced)
- 3 green onions (finely minced)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
