It turned out quite tasty! Used soya sauce instead of liquid aminos, didn't bother with the cloves. I used an instant pot for the steaming - I thought it would be faster but it still needed at least the 45 minutes it got on the "steam" setting. The glaze was delicious! Wouldn't fool anyone as a ham, but it was a very enjoyable replacement for Easter.
