- 1 lb. ground pork sausage
- 2 Tbsp. melted butter
- 2 tsp. olive oil
- 1 yellow onion (medium, chopped)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 3 cloves roasted garlic (strongly preferred or just use regular garlic, minced)
- 1/2 red bell pepper (medium-sized, chopped)
- 8 oz. tomato sauce (1 can)
- 2 Tbsp. tomato paste
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. beef demiglace (mixed with ½ cup water, or use ½ cup low-salt canned beef stock)
- 1/2 cup ketchup (Sir Kensington’s)
- 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. yellow mustard
- 1 Tbsp. chili powder (Gebhardt-brand)
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp. Maggi Seasoning
- 2 Tbsp. fresh oregano (minced)
- 2 Tbsp. fresh parsley (minced)
- 2 dashes chipotle hot sauce (or to taste)
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 8 potato bread (or brioche hamburger buns, lightly toasted)
