- 2 Tbsp. Shaoxing wine (see note)
- 2 Tbsp. Chinese rice vinegar (or distilled white vinegar)
- 3 Tbsp. store bought low sodium chicken stock (or homemade)
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. sesame seed oil (roasted)
- 1/4 cup juice
- 1 Orange
- 1 Tbsp. corn starch
- 4 strips dried orange peel (see note)
- 2 tsp. peanut (vegetable, or canola oil)
- 2 tsp. minced garlic (about 2 medium cloves)
- 2 tsp. minced fresh ginger (about one 1-inch piece)
- 2 tsp. scallion (thinly sliced, bottoms, about 1 scallion )
- 2 qt. peanut (canola, or vegetable oil for deep frying)
