- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 3/4 cup milk (scald, then cool until lukewarm milk)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 egg
- 1/4 tsp. canela
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 1/4 cups all purpose flour (if you need more flour just use a 1/4 cup more to get the right dough consistancy)
- 1/2 cup almond paste (store bought,or home made. homemade almond paste directions in this recipe.)
- 1/3 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1/3 cup butter (softened)
- 1 tsp. canela
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 6 Tbsp. water (a 1/2 tablespon at a time until smooth. you may add a couple tablespoons of butter for a richer icing also you can sub the water for milk. go crazy with it.)
- 1 1/2 cups blanched almonds
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 large egg white
- 1 tsp. almond extract (1/2 or)
- 2 Tbsp. butter (optional. it helps the paste spread better.)
