- 1 1/2 cups water (at room temperature)
- 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar (or white)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder (dutch process or natural)
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 3/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 20 Tbsp. unsalted butter (2.5 sticks or 280 grams, softened but still cool)
- 3 cups confectioner's sugar
- 3 Tbsp. freeze-dried strawberries (powdered, I did this in a food processor)
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract (or vanilla paste)
- 1 tsp. red wine vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. water
