- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- pink food coloring
- 1 1/2 lb. strawberries (stems removed)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 1 cup vegetable shortening
- 4 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup strawberry puree (reduced)

The cake turned out too dense. Didn’t taste good. The icing fared much better.
