  • 1/2 pound dried Black Mission figs (8 ounces; stems trimmed)
  • 1/2 cup pinot noir wine (good quality)
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

    Directions

    1. Equipment: KitchenAid® Corded Hand Blender with pan guard, 2-3 qt saucepan.
    2. Place the dried figs and the pinot noir into your saucepan and cover the pan. Turn the heat to medium and allow the figs and wine to simmer for 10-12 minutes, or until figs have softened.
    3. Turn off heat. Add remaining ingredients into the pan.
