  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 3/4 cup fresh bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/3 cup ketchup

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350°. Combine all ingredients in large bowl.
    2. Shape into loaf in 13 x 9-inch baking or roasting pan.
    3. Bake uncovered 1 hour or until done. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

    Love this recipe. I used ground turkey and added 1/4 cup of green peppers. I poured bbq sauce on top. Will definitely make again

    I usually make this recipe, but I added some cream of mushroom on top with some cheddar cheese during the last 20 minutes of baking... making it a 3 tier meatloaf..yummy yummy for my tummy....Onolious..!!!!

    I’ve made this meatloaf many times and it’s always a hit. I’ve fixed it just like the recipe says and also with some slight variations and it’s always so good. I’ve used plain bread crumbs at times and Italian style bread crumbs other times. I’ve also made it with and without ketchup on top. I’ve even added some Worcestershire sauce and a tad bit of soy sauce before. I think next time I’ll add some chopped bell pepper. It’s an easy recipe to follow and you can do so many different things with it. Any way I fix it, it’s always delicious. I’ll definitely make this again and again!

    I use this recipe as my base. I put yellow/orange/red peppers, onion, garlic, mushrooms and zucchini (if on hand) all in the food processor and add it to the mix for added nutritional value and heartiness. I've also tried Artichoke hearts and black beans and it was phenomenal. Sometimes I use half ketchup, half BBQ sauce - If I'm catering to a healthier crowd I'll use tomato paste instead of ketchup. I've never had a bad result. I have one in the over now and this time I tried putting the minced garlic on top so to have a roasted garlic finish. I highly recommend adding the veggies.

    It turned out great. Never made meatloaf and my husband loved it.
    This is tradition when my daughter comes home for the holidays! I often use oatmeal instead of breadcrumbs for added nutrition, and half ground beef and either turkey or sausage.

    Great simple recipe. Instead of 2/3 water, I did 1/3 water & 1/3 worshtershershire sauce. Was a hit for the whole family (picky toddler included).
