- 1 lb. hot Italian ground sausage
- 4 slices bacon (diced)
- 1/2 yellow onion (diced)
- 2 stalks celery (chopped)
- 4 russet potatoes (peeled and diced into 1/2-inch cubes)
- 5 cups chicken broth
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes
- 2 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1/4 cup pesto
- 2 cups kale (chopped)
- 1/2 cup half and half (or whole milk)
- Parmesan cheese (for topping)

Directions
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the bacon and set aside on a paper towel lined plate.
- Drain the majority of the bacon drippings, reserving some in the skillet.
- Add the onions and ground sausage to the skillet and cook until the sausage reaches an internal temperature of 160°F.
