- 1 can tomato paste
- 1/2 can water (the crushed tomatoes can of)
- 1 lb. italian sausage (plus)
- basil (a large handful of FRESH chopped)
- fresh parsley (a large handful of chopped)
- 1/2 red bell pepper (a chopped, green is too bitter)
- 1/2 garlic (a large head of fresh, smash the cloves and take off the skin- give it a couple of "dices" - throw in the pot)
- ground black pepper (fresh, over all)
- salt (to taste)
- red pepper (dried, to taste)
- 1 Tbsp. thyme
- 1 tsp. sugar (cuts the acid)
