This was a really good sauce with very few ingredients. Yes, adding some fresh veggies and garlic would make it better, but it was easy and tasty as is. I did add 2 Tbsp. dried onion and 2 Tbsp. dried basil (in place of Italian seasoning). I cooked it about 6 1/2 hrs. on high, and the sausage was nice and crumbly, and easy to break up. I did add a dash of salt after tasting. My husband and I really enjoyed it, and even my daughter liked it if I picked out the big pieces of sausage. Will definitely make again! 2nd time: I used Al Fresco chicken Italian sausage. Added 2 cans of Italian diced tomatoes. Used fresh minced garlic and basil paste, and dry Marsala instead of red wine. Added some additional spices like crushed red pepper. Cooked for 10 hours on low. Delicious! Made enough for a pound of pasta plus had a quart leftover to freeze (16 servings).
