- 28 oz. tomato puree (or 1 28-ounce can whole peeled tomatoes, pureed with juices until smooth)
- 6 oz. tomato paste
- 3 Tbsp. gluten free worcestershire sauce (Lea & Perrins brand is gluten free, at least in the U.S.)
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar (packed)
- 2 Tbsp. gluten free flour blend (basic gum-free, or an equal amount superfine sweet white rice flour)
- 1/2 tsp. mustard powder
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. kosher salt
- 2 tsp. ground cumin
- 2 Tbsp. onion flakes (dried)
- 2 lb. extra lean ground beef (at least 93% lean, can substitute ground turkey or ground chicken, but you’ll need to add 1 tablespoon, 14 g extra-virgin olive oil)
- gluten free hamburger buns (for serving, the buns in the photo are my Subway-Style Rolls, shaped into rounds)
