You must use the Southern Style potatoes as the recipe states or they will be bland. I use Simply Potatoes and receive compliments all the time on the little bit of a kick they have and they all want the recipe.

These had no flavor at all and I will not be fixing them again unless maybe I add some real onions and maybe bacon and some real cheese. No good
