  • 12 ounces ground pork (lean)
  • 8 ounces penne pasta (whole grain, about 3 cups)
  • 3 cups tomato pasta sauce (spicy, OR plain tomato-basil pasta sauce)
  • 2/3 cup ricotta cheese low fat
  • 3 tablespoons Parmesan cheese (OR Asiago cheese, freshly grated)

    Directions

    1. Cook pasta in large saucepan with unsalted water according to package directions. Drain well.
    2. Meanwhile, cook ground pork over medium-high heat in large, nonstick skillet about 3 minutes or until pork is no longer pink, breaking pork in to 3/4-inch crumbles. Drain and discard any juices.
    3. Add hot pasta to ground pork in skillet. Stir in pasta sauce and ricotta cheese. Cover and cook over medium-high heat until hot, stirring occasionally.
    4. Sprinkle with grated cheese and serve.

    I added some basil, thyme, and oregano so it wouldn't be too bland. Turned out really good and was easy to make. I served it with garlic bread.

    It turned out excellent! I added onion and yellow and red peppers to the ground pork in the skillet. I didn't have any penne pasta and I used a garofalo pasta. And I used a four cheese pasta sauce instead too. I think the ricotta cheese is what really makes it delicious. I also added parsley flakes just to give it some color at the end and then put in grated parmesan cheese.

    This was yummy! I substituted chickpea noodles for regular pasta and crumbled tofu for ricotta to make it even healthier.

    Used bulk Italian Sausage instead of ground pork. Also added minced garlic to the sausage the last 30 seconds before adding the rest of the ingredients. A flavor pasta sauce is key to making this flavorful.
    Good, quick and easy. I didn't have ricota, added some mussarela though. I'll try again another time.

    Decent enough dish though some garlic and maybe even minced shallots would have improved this recipe to a 5 star. Ricotta cheese was a welcome addition though.

    I used basil and tomato sauce and it turned out pretty good quick and easy meal good for busy moms such as myself. Taste wise it isnt the most amazing thing but for being quick and easy its yummy. Thanks for the recipe might add in onion and/or garlic next time for extra flavor
