- 2 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 Tbsp. garlic (smashed)
- 1 Tbsp. chopped fresh sage (roughly)
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric
- 1/2 tsp. cumin
- 1/2 tsp. celery salt
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 2 cups water
- 7 cups chicken (or VEGETABLE BROTH)
- 1 lb. green split peas (dried, picked over and rinsed, soaking optional, see Notes)
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 cups potatoes (1/2″ cubed peeled RUSSETT)
- 1 cup carrots (diced)
- 3 cups cubed ham (cooked and, some of that leftover Christmas ham will work great!)
