Great recipe! Delicious, fun version of the old staple. Loved the jalapeño but would recommend adjusting to taste. Was able to find cardamom pods, but would have use ground based on the other review. My only suggestion is to use cheese cloth or something for the cloves and cardamom pods, because you are supposed to remove them later and they are impossible to find when everything is red.

I've made this now for years and years; it's very close to a Silver Palate recipe I used prior and couldn't find anymore. Everyone loves it. Not overly spicy, but has a little zing. I use ground cardamon instead of the pods. EZ and different in a wonderful way.
