These were absolutely fabulous, but I would call them a special occasion recipe, since they took a while to make. My friends joked that they were horrified by how red they were and two bottles is a lot of food coloring, but I followed the recipe exact. I will definitely make them again, and they are worth the effort. Frosting is spectacular!

i have yet to taste these as they are part of a Halloween project but the batter tasted amazing. only thing that made me upset was the middles caved in when rotated the pans. but that works out for as im sticking them together to make them into human hearts

My goodness, these had to be the richest red velvet cupcakes I've ever had! The cake was a little bit flaky but it was still delicious. The cream cheese frosting is certainly the richest part of the whole thing. All in all, I'd definitely make this recipe again.
