Picked out this recipe per request from my step daughters to make a cake together. This was their first time ever baking something from scratch. We used normal flour instead of cake flour and added some chocolate chips to the batter because who doesn’t love some extra chocolate. It did come out a little dense and dry, but I attribute that to our all purpose flour. They couldn’t tell the difference and we had a great time in the kitchen together. The recipe was not too hard to follow for them and we plan on making this again with just a couple more tweaks

I made it for my husband on Valentine’s Day - he loved it! And he doesn’t like cream cheese, but I made the recipe just as listed and he didn’t say a word about the frosting!

It was delicious! I only have two round land and cooked the two for about 24 mins instead of 20. Then, I only put 4 cups of confectioners sugar, which turned out perfect, in the frosting instead of 7.

Was so light and fluffy it was actually kind of crumbly, though somehow not dry. Icing recipe was abundant, and I ended up piling about 1 inch of cream cheese frosting on the top. That’s my son’s favorite, so that was good for him, though I prefer the cake part.

Awesome Awesome Awesome, most of the times when asked to use a mixer and you don't have one, when mixed by hand it does not come out good, I use a whisk and it came out great fluffy raise beautifully, thanks will surely try more of your recipes.

This did not rise the way I had hoped. My oven was preheated and calibrated, but it just fell. It was really disappointing.

This cake is amazing so moist and delicious. Defiantly recommend giving this recipe a try. I used regular flour instead of cake flour and it still tasted amazing.

According to my sister this cake tastes like a piece of heaven and my husband said it was the best red velvet cake he has ever had. Let me start by saying that I found this recipe on Pinterest and it seemed like the easiest one from the ones they had. I was very nervous because I had never baked a cake from scratch. For it being my first cake it turned out great. The only complaint my husband had was that he wishes I would have put more frosting between the layers. I am definitely making this again.

Pretty good... Want to perfect it and make it again. Not quite dense enough, and slightly crumbly. Want to tighten up the frosting a bit, too.
