- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 qt. chicken stock
- 3 bay leaves
- 1/2 Tbsp. dried thyme
- 3 Tbsp. gumbo file (ground sassafras)
- cayenne pepper (to taste)
- green onions (minced, to top it with)
- long-grain white rice (cooked, to serve it over)
