I'm not a cook at all so I'm trying to follow the directions exactly, at least as a starting point. This one did not call for salt and since I'm a saltaholic myself I typically cook with it; but since I've never made this before and am using a pressure cooker for the first time I followed the directions as written. Unfortunately even my husband - who doesn't use salt much - said this recipe needed some. Otherwise not bad, and my husband suggested some things to add to personalize it next time around.
