1 Tbsp. sugar (or light brown sugar)

2 Tbsp. cider vinegar

Directions

Preheat oven to 475°F with rack at center.
Peel and chop apple, halve and thinly slice onions.
Heat a deep skillet over medium heat with butter. When it melts, add apples and onions and season with salt, pepper, bay leaf, and sugar. Soften but do not brown for 7-8 minutes.
