tasty, common ingredients, easy to prepare. used 2 oranges and 2 limes. wash skins, squeeze juices. added orange skins to broth (discard from finished sauce). added sprigs fresh thyme and 6 cloves crushed garlic. slow cookers vary wildly. in mine, 3.5# pork shoulder took 9 hrs to reach tender/pull apart stage.

It turned out well! I wish I cut up the pork shoulder first then rubbed the pork afterwords to save some time when I had to shred it. I didn't use the liquid smoke, but it turned out well. I liked the flavor the pork held. It was juicy and succulent. I even added the juices to my tacos for additional flavor. This was my first time making these and I was very happy. I'll be adding these carnitas to my eggs for a breakfast treat!
