- 3 slices bacon (., I used peppered bacon)
- 2 lb. ground turkey (or ground beef. I used a combination of both)
- 1 1/4 cups chopped onion (divided)
- 1 cup mushrooms (chopped, ., Optional)
- 1 Tbsp. minced garlic
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. italian seasoning
- 3 1/2 lb. cabbage (chopped or shredded, approximately 8 cups)
- 2/3 cup beef broth (low sodium)
- 1 cup cooked rice (White or Brown, Uncle Ben’s Ready Rice works great for this. You could also use leftover rice)
- 30 oz. pizza sauce (I really like Dei Fratelli and I am not being paid. It just has a great flavor)
- 1 diced tomatoes (14.5 oz can basil, drained)
- 1 Tbsp. tomato paste
- salt
- pepper
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
- sliced pepperoni (Optional)
