- 1 yellow onion (large, chopped)
- 1 Italian sweet pepper (large, chopped, or use several jalapeno peppers, chopped - red ones if you have them)
- 4 cloves garlic (chopped)
- 6 oz. soppressata (chopped, if desired)
- 2 oz. anchovy fillets (flat, drained)
- 1 tsp. red pepper flakes
- 1 cup black olives (or green, chopped)
- 3 Tbsp. capers (drained)
- 4 lb. fresh tomatoes (peeled and chopped, or about 60 odd ounces of crushed tomatoes from cans – I used some frozen tomatoes from our garden)
- black pepper (to taste)
- 3 Tbsp. chopped parsley
- 2 Tbsp. basil (chopped)
- 1 lb. large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
- 1 lb. noodles (spaghetti, or any pasta to your preference)
- grated Parmesan cheese (for serving)
