  • 5 slices bacon (cooked, save drippings)
  • 1/2 cup onion (chopped regular, or green onion)
  • 6 potatoes (peeled and cubed)
  • 1/2 cup green pepper (chopped)
  • 3/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 cup oil (I use the leftover bacon drippings combined with Canola Oil to make one cup)
  • 1 pinch cayenne
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (Optional)
