- 10 onions (small sambar, or shallots)
- 3 medium tomatoes (quartered)
- 4 water (, slit length wise, adjust to suit your spice level)
- turmeric (pinch of)
- 1 tamarind (big lemon sized , extract the juice in 1 cup water)
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. jaggery (or sugar, optional)
- salt (to taste)
- leaves (coriander, for garnish)
- 3 dried red chilies
- 1/2 tsp. black cumin seeds
- 2 tsp. coriander seeds
- 2 tsp. channa dal (or senga pappu or Bengal gram)
- 2 tsp. urad dal (or minapa pappu or split black gram dal)
- 1/4 tsp. methi (or menthulu or fenugreek seeds)
- 1 tsp. sesame seeds (or til or nuvvulu, optional)
- 1 Tbsp. oil
- 1/2 tsp. mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp. black cumin seeds
- 1 tsp. urad dal (or minapapappu or split black gram)
- fenugreek seeds (pinch of, or menthulu or methi)
- 1/4 tsp. asafoetida (or hing or inguva or 3 4 crushed garlic flakes)
- 1 dried red chilies (tear into pieces and de seed)
- 12 leaves (fresh curry)
