I added the extra spices suggested and it tastes great but it's soooo mushy. Maybe because I used white rice and red lentils☹

It was good, but lacked savoriness. I’ll experiment a bit. Try anchovy paste in the beginning.

Needed more water than stated and I used double the amount of spice and added lots of garlic. Served topped with toasted flaked almonds and roasted cauliflower topped with dukka - delicious!

great flavor but lentils werent completely cooked. will boil them first for the next batch

This dish made me a fan of lentils and rice! Wonderful flavors with spices that paired well with Gluten Free Pumpkin Bread and Romaine salad with fresh tomatoes, celery and yellow bell pepper. The family loved this meal!

I couldn't find brown lentils, so I used green French. Not sure if this made a difference to the taste or texture. Over all this wasn't my favorite recipe. Maybe it does need the cilantro.

Made it along with chicken shawarma...turned out pretty good but the cloves seemed to overpower the other spices...will definitely make it again, but with more onions and about half the amount of ground cloves!

This was very delicious and certainly worth the effort as it makes a lot. It seems like a lot of onions but the carmelising creates a lovely flavour profile and the onions are the star!
