Ingredients

- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup cocoa
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup strong black coffee
- 1 cup buttermilk (or 1 cup of milk with 1 tablespoon of white vinegar)
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 pkg. cream cheese (at room temperature)
- 4 candy canes
- 1 1/2 lb. powdered sugar
- 2 drops peppermint extract (optional)
- candy canes (crushed, I used something I found in the baking aisle instead and I was NOT happy with the consistency. It looks easier but doesn’t taste as good!)
