- 1 1/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup Crisco Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening (OR 3/4 stick Crisco® Baking Sticks Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening)
- 2 Tbsp. maple syrup
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. maple extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 3/4 cups Pillsbury BEST All Purpose Flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts

Directions
- HEAT oven to 375°F.
- COMBINE brown sugar, shortening, maple syrup, vanilla and maple extracts in bowl of electric mixer. Beat at medium speed until well blended. Add egg. Beat well.
- COMBINE flour, salt, baking soda and cinnamon in medium bowl. Add to shortening mixture. Beat at low speed just until blended. Stir in chopped walnuts.
- DROP by rounded measuring tablespoonfuls of dough 3 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Press walnut half into center of each cookie.
- BAKE 8 to 10 minutes for chewy cookies, or 11 to 13 for crisp cookies. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheets. Place on cooling racks to cool completely.
