- 4 mangoes (firm-ripe, peeled**)
- 1/2 lemon (or 1 lime)
- 4 Tbsp. unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar (packed)
- 2 mangoes (I think 3 to 4 are necessary in order to fill out the design of the mango topping. Making mine with only 2 mangoes made me aware of the empty spaces, which winded up being filled in by cake batter and not looking as gorgeous as it is capable of -- the pattern being partially covered by batter.)
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 whole large eggs (plus 1 large egg yolk)
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup mango juice (concentrate, mango nectar, or frozen mango pulp, thawed)
