4 SERVINGS
- 2 sticks butter (melted)
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1/2 cup malted milk powder (we like Carnation–look for it by the hot chocolate at the store)
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 3/4 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 1/2 cups old fashioned oats
- 2 cups chocolate chunks (we like to chop up 3/4 of a Pound Plus bar from Trader Joe’s, but milk chocolate chips would be great, too)

I have made these cookies twice. The first time I made them they were big and flat, which I assumed were from melting the butter like the recipe suggested. I was disappointed but my husband found them “weird but addictive”. The second time I made them was kind of accidentally. I was looking for a recipe to use up my malted milk powder. I was half way though making them before I realized it was the same recipe. This time I read through the blog post and saw that it was suggested to use more flour if you didn’t like the texture of the big flat cookies. I added the flour an really like them now. Things I did differently- added 1/2 cup more flour as directed, refrigerated the dough overnight, put my oats in the food processor (they were a bit dry and frankly expired- used them anyway) added less choc mini chips. Turned out great this time!
