- 2 onions (chopped)
- 4 cloves garlic (crushed)
- 1 piece ginger (grated)
- 1 Tbsp. turmeric
- 2 tsp. cumin seeds
- 2 tsp. Garam Masala
- 1 tsp. fennel seeds
- 1 tsp. chilli flakes
- 6 cloves
- 6 cardamom pods
- 1 cup red lentils
- 1 cup moong dal (split mung beans)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 can chopped tomatoes (drained of excess liquid)
- 2 cups baby spinach (or chopped, approximate)

Good recipe. I’ll use a but less water next time. I had to add some more spices at the end- but good taste. Tomatoes are a fresh addition.

A very nice dal, nice balance of the spices, I used stock instead of just water the salt in it brings out the spices.

Excellent thank you! Didn't add spinach as am making a separate one but didn't matter.
