  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce (or gluten-free soy sauce)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup yellow onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon ginger (grated)
  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • 2 garlic cloves (crushed)
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (plus more for topping)

    Delicious. Will definitely make this again I didn’t add red pepper flakes because my family doesn’t like spicy food. I used pepper instead. Next time I will use a little red pepper because I think a touch of heat will make it even better

    This was easy to prepare, quick to bbq, and the flavour and moistness of the chicken breasts was wonderful. Will be a regular dish from now on. I used 1/2 tsp rather than 1 tsp of pepper flakes as my husband likes warm not spicy hot .

    My husband really likes these chicken breasts but I wasn't impressed. The chicken had some flavor, which was great, but it left a tang in my mouth I didn't like. Maybe I let them marinade too long? I had planned to make them for dinner last night so I made the marinade as instructed and put in the fridge yesterday morning. Then my husband came home with Subway for dinner so we didn't eat them until today, so they marinaded 30? ish hours.

    made with chicken drumsticks, great recipe! had to sub ground ginger for fresh, so it would have been better if i had it!

    Bit too much of a soy sauce heavy sauce for my preference. Overall, not a very flavorful dish. I did have to modify by cooking in pan rather than grill. Would probably not make again

    The chicken was very tasty, nevertheless the chicken and rice lacked a dipping sauce. I enjoyed this dish and will make it again.

    i doubled the sauce and baked the chicken instead, due to snow. it was good over a bed of rice. sauce was great!

    It was great! I don’t have a grill but the pan worked well. It was juice and a new experience. I’ll have to put less pepper flakes next time because my fiancée can’t handle it so much!

    Delicious marinade! I let it marinate overnight and the flavor was booming! Wife loved it, easy recipe with only few minutes of grilling. Great weeknight dish.
