- 2 basmati rice (full cups of fine quality)
- 1 bay leaf

- 1 tsp. chili paste (or 1 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder)
- 1 cup curd (plain)
- 2 tsp. ginger garlic paste

- 3 finely chopped onions
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
- salt (according to taste)
- 3 potatoes (medium sized)
- oil (to cook)
- 1 tsp. water (Keora)
- 1 tsp. rose water
- 5 tsp. ghee (or clarified butter)
- 1 pinch saffron (soaked in ½ cup warm milk)
- 2 boiled eggs (optional)
- 2 green chilies (slit, optional)
