This Guinness bread recipe is a keeper! I’m from the U.S and missed the wonderful breads we enjoyed on trip to Ireland in 2019. I have a similar recipe shared by our B&B host, which was a cutout from a local newspaper (see attached). This Yumly recipe is even better. The Guinness bread turned out fantastic. It was malty, sweet and did not dry out. I have a few suggestions. If you don’t have a food processor, don’t fret, use softened Kerrygold butter and mix in the butter with a fork and by hand. This isn’t pastry dough, you don’t need to cut in cold butter. I used one large 1.5lb (10x5x3H in) loaf pan and baked for approximately one hour. I’ve tried this with American whole wheat flour and it did not resemble bread from Ireland. I suggest purchasing Odlums extra course flour, it is very course and will provide the best texture. Order the Odlums flour from Food Ireland for $5. I ordered several bags because the shipping cost is high. Amazon is selling the same flour for $24. Enjoy!

After getting my fill of absolutely terrific Irish brown bread on my trip to Dublin I went in search of a good recipe. This is a great recipe. Bread was extremely moist. Next time I plan to put a handful of sunflower seeds into the mix - think that will push this already wonderful bread over the top!
