Description
Dark beer does indeed give this bread a dark color as well as deep flavor. Beer actually has a long tradition as an ingredient in baking bread, which makes sense when you consider that beer is made from hops and yeast. Before the loaf goes into the oven, it is brushed with water and dusted with rye flour, which complements the taste of the beer and also the whole wheat flour that's used in the dough.
