These were amazing and I’ll definitely make again. I’ve never made my own baked beans before. I’m a diehard Heinz beans gal but I’m so impressed with these I’m converted. They don’t taste like heinz and are a little sweet for my taste - I imagine this is a typical American dish so my English taste buds aren’t used to it. They taste barbecued sauce flavour but I like them. Next time I might skip the maple syrup altogether because the “tomate frito” is quite sweet anyway and the maple syrup seems to be separated from the sauce, and wouldn’t mix in. But apart from those tweaks for next time I absolutely LOVE this recipe, and so cheap and quick and easy to make too. What’s not to love!
