I’ve made this 4 times: 2 with black beans and 2 with navy beans. Both turned out excellent. I also did try finely chopping onion into beans which turned out quite good although not traditional. I find the sweetness is not over the top, yet very reminiscent of my youth in Quebec

Way too sweet for me - and I reduced the sugar by half! Tasted more like red bean paste you'd use for sweets. Easy enough to make, though. Seemed a bit watery at first but the sauce thickened up after sitting for a bit.

It was great!!!!! I added chopped up honey garlic sausage and it was delicious!
