- 3/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup palm sugar (or sucanat or brown sugar)
- 2 eggs (flax, 2 tbsp ground flax mixed with 6 tbsp water and let sit 5 minutes)
- 1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour (white, or whole wheat pastry flour, any soft wheat flour)
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. fine sea salt (plus more for sprinkling the top with if desired)
- 1 cup chopped hazelnuts (roughly)
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup medjool dates (soft, pits removed, roughly chopped and tossed with 1 tbsp flour to keep them from sticking)
