Shoyu Chicken is a classic dish, one of Hawaii’s most popular "To Go" comfort food plate lunch, marinated in sweet spicy sauce.

  • 6 pieces bone (chicken thighs, in with skin)
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 6 garlic cloves (peeled and smashed)
  • 1 ginger (sliced 1/8 inch thick)
  • 1 green onions (for garnish, optional)

    Directions

    1. Sautéed ginger, garlic and green onion with chicken.
    2. Mix sugar, shoyu and water with green onion Pour mix sauce over cooked chicken
    3. Simmer in a low heat for 35 minutes till chicken is tender.
