- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 cup toasted nuts (finely chopped, blanched almonds, macadamia nuts, walnuts and/or pecans)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for the loaf, plus 1 generous tablespoon butter, melted, for brushing)
- 1/2 cup raisins (mix light and dark; optional)
- 1 cup hot tea (use a regular tea like Tetley; only if using raisins)
- 2 cups all purpose flour (bleached)
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. table salt (fine)
- 1 tsp. cinnamon (optional)
- 1 tsp. freshly ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1 cup sugar (all granulated or mix half packed light brown sugar and half granulated)
- 2 extra large eggs (made tepid by steeping them, whole, in hot tap water for 15 minutes)
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 3 large bananas (very ripe)
