- 1/4 tsp. Grand Marnier
- 1 1/2 tsp. cake flour
- 3 large eggs (about scant 5 fluid ounces/150 g)
- 1 cup sour cream (I used 0 percent fat fromage frais)
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. orange flower water (if not using, increase vanilla to 1 ½ tsps)
- 2 1/2 cups cake flour (sifted, I loosely spooned the flour into measuring cups)
- 2 oz. ground almonds (finely)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. finely grated orange zest (I grated the zest of 2 large oranges)
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened to room temperature)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 freshly squeezed orange juice (liquid cup, 60 ml)
- 1/3 Grand Marnier (liquid cup, 80 ml)
- 2 oz. semi sweet chocolate (dark)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 2 Tbsp. slivered almonds (blanched and, for decoration, optional)
- 2 tsp. sugar pearls (edible, for decoration, optional)
