This was good but came out thin and milky. Both I didn’t expect from the picture but given that it’s a soup, meets the definition. Otherwise very tasty and went well with the rice. If I do it again I’d do less water (3 cups) and less coconut milk (half) for sure if you want it thicker and more like a creamy dal.

it's so easy and so good. I've made it several times including for a potluck where everyone loved it.

Super simple and tasty. Great "rent week" recipe for when all I have in my house are spices, rice, and some lentils :). If you have any whole cumin, coriander, or fenugreek, I would recommend toasting it a bit in oil in the pot to deepen the flavor.
